Nokia N81 8GB Mobile Phone Review
The brand new Nokia N81 8GB is the newest addition to the Nokia N Series and is a welcome addition to an already very exciting group of phones. This truly is a "top of the line" smartphone offering everything from massive storage space to the latest and greatest games and music. Nokia have built a phone with so much storage space that you shouldn't need your iPod and you could even forget about that Playstation with the quality of games this phone comes with.
I wouldn't recommend the N81 to a lady with a small purse, it is chunky however the features of the phone make this completely understandable.
Slide phones continue to make improvements on design and durability. The design of the N81 is a good improvement on previous Nokia slide phones. The slide on this phone is very sturdy and is relatively smooth to do.
The keypad is very easy, unlike some of the early slide phones where buttons have been difficult to hit because the phones haven't slid far enough, this seems to be perfect. The dial and hang up buttons do take some getting used to, they are positioned on the side of the phone and you can occasionally put someone on loud speaker instead of hanging up. In my opinion this is a phone and the answer and hang up buttons are more important than the skip button on my music, however each to their own.
If you are a big music fan and would rather have your phone and music in one then this phone is very accommodating. It has a specially designed music keypad that is easy to access without sliding and very simple to use, not to mention the massive storage space you get on the phone.
I remember when the first camera phones started coming out a few years ago and phone companies where focussing so much on selling their phones because of the great camera they came with? Well unfortunately I feel as though this "technology" has slowed on the mobile. The standard camera on all phones is about 2 mega pixel and hasn't changed for about a year now. A little disappointing when you consider how far phones have come in a year.
The focus for 2008 so far has been squarely on music for most mobile companies however, a lot of people have accepted phones have cameras and buying a camera these days is not as important. If mobile manufacturers keep improving the cameras on their phones then people will begin to take these features far more seriously.
Making calls is the most important part of a mobile phone and it is an absolute pleasure to make calls on the N81, the sound quality is second to none. I had an issue or two with the speakerphone but it was quickly sorted out and driving and talking on hands free was easy, and safe.
I am a big fan of this phone, I think it has some excellent features; the gaming on it is phenomenal and listening to your favourite tracks is easy. There are so many things to like about this phone that deserve mention but the truth is there are too many. Be prepared to spend a bit if you want this phone because a phone like this is certainly not going to be cheap considering how many functions and features it has. This is a great phone, one of the best Nokia's I have seen for a while and for all those out there who get the opportunity to have this phone, enjoy.
