LG Viewty Mobile Phone Review
The LG KU990, or LG Viewty, is LG's latest handset to hit the market and boy doesn't this one hit with a bang! This phone is unrivalled by its closest competitors including the Apple iPhone. The Viewty is a bigger improvement on the LG Prada they released early in 2007 with very few flaws to find in this phone.
Having mucked around and road tested this phone over the last few weeks the LG Viewty is the one of the best phones mobux has reviewed with revolutionary technology all through this phone, few will disagree that it is one of the best phones on the market.
The QWERTY keyboard is terrific with a great keypad and handwriting on screen make using this phone a breeze for writing SMS, emailing friends or entering contacts. The handwriting option is terrific with its only blemish being you need to write very clearly for it to be recognised properly, you can end up with p's as d's etc, no reason to cull the phone though!
The best feature of this phone is its 3-inch screen, only five buttons, (answer/call, go back, hang up, unlock and take photo) this phone relies on its touch screen for basically all navigation around the phone. This is a huge advantage for this phone, it allows everything on the screen to be larger (eg keypad) and makes watching movies, You Tube clips and video calling a real pleasure.
The email is easy to set up allowing both POP3 and IMAP4 protocols.
Navigating around this phone is incredibly easy. The phonebook has a capacity of 500 names, half the size of the LG Prada, but when you take a look at the memory for your Multimedia (100 MB) this phone leaves others for dead.
It would be impossible to do a review on this phone and not compare it with others. The difference between the iPhone and the Viewty are remarkable, with better value, I believe, coming from the Viewty. This phone comes with everything the iPhone has and in some cases more. Apple concentrated on music with their first phone and while LG has not neglected this side of things Apple are clear and expected winners in this department. The winning advantage is the camera that comes with this phone. Music and cameras have become standards in phones these days and while Apple launched with a 2.0 MP camera the Viewty has smashed it with its 5.0 MP camera with auto focus, video and strobe flash making this the best camera phone by a mile. I have not needed a camera for the past few weeks because this phone has such a good one built in.
At this stage it is limited to the 3 network in Australia and due for release with Vodafone and Optus in February 2008 so look out for some big publicity around it then.
For looks, style, technology and general usability this is a terrific phone. Using it has been a pleasure and has made my Christmas break that little bit more relaxing. Whilst it comes at a cost, the advantages far out weigh the disadvantages. I recommend this phone too all particularly those who send and receive emails regularly and are budding photographers like I have turned into. It is very convenient when out and about, as a mobile should be.
