PRADA LG KE850 Mobile Phone Review
Attention
all fashionistas its time to get dressed! Forget the latest Marc Jacob pumps,
or shouldering your Fendi baguette, the only outfit worth donning this season
is the new Prada LG KE850. Kate Moss has nothing compared to this sleek style
icon.
Appearance
is always essential in fashion and this phone embodies all the qualities of a
great collection- simple, elegant, modern and classic, embodied in a glossy
black finish. Although the black surface shows every fingerprint wiping it with
your Prada LCD cleaner or storing it in your exclusive Prada Saffiano leather
case seems a small price to pay.
What makes
this phone very avant-garde is the replacement of the normal keypad with a
touch screen. This means LG could include a large, high-resolution screen, yet
despite this it weighs a mere 85 grams, is 12mm thick, 54mm wide and 98.8mm
long.
The black
and white default display settings, reminiscent of the phone's ad, don't do the
phones amazing colour reproduction justice. But never fear, it does come with
three other themes to choose from. Each theme comes with a little animated
cursor that you can direct with your finger. Fun!
When
purchasing a new shoe or outfit with a large price tag, we cannot justify this
purchase on looks alone. It has to have certain benefits that outweigh the
cost. Like fashion this rule applies to the new Prada phone.
It comes
with all the now standard functions: an MP3 player and support for MP3 ring
tones, video playback, an FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, an auto focus flash camera,
speaker phone and expandable storage using the micro SD slot accompanied by a
256 MB memory card.
The camera
is rather fabulous as it captures sharp photos using the large 3-inch screen as
the viewfinder. Perfect for snapping the looks on the catwalk! The MP3 player
is simple to use by its control interface and drag 'n' drop process of adding
new songs from your computer.
Unfortunately
no outfit is perfect and this Prada does have a few loose threads. Currently
there is no support for fast 3G mobiles and the touch screen takes some getting
used to. Using your finger to dial numbers and navigate the animated user
interface is smooth and an excitable change to the normal keypad, yet typing
messages is a little frustrating. There is a slight delay in registering the
touches and it's easy to hit the wrong letter combo. This means sending a text
message is a slow process and you may be better to just call. The T9 predictive
text is maddening as you scroll through alternate word suggestions by on screen
arrows and often the word you want isn't even in the dictionary. As a result
you have to add the word, yet this screen doesn't have backspace as an option
so one wrong move and you have to start again- a bit like pulling a stray thread!
The battery lasts for a talk-time of 3 hours, which is satisfactory but you
have to recharge it every night.
Despite
a slow SMS-system the new Prada LG KE850 is a chic easy to use phone that has
taken fashion to a new level- you won't be dressed without it!
